There is one this that is known both for people who tried out different diets and for those who never have: the universal ideal diet which suits absolutely everyone does not exist. It’s a myth widely used in ads to attract more people (especially if a diet is not free). This is true for absolutely all types of diets what are aimed at all possible purposes. It doesn’t mean that you can’t find you perfect diet, it only means that your perfect diet could be not that effective or even deteriorating for someone else.

All people are different from the point of view of heredity, body type, and illnesses history. Of course the less illnesses you and your ancestors had the easier it is to find you perfect diet.

A very important criteria for choosing a diet is your blood type. This method was suggested by Peter D’Adamo long ago, and it still works because people continue having different blood types. It has also been long proved that people with one and the same blood type can suffer from similar illnesses during lifetime. So, it means that similar treatments can be of help for them. This refers to diets as well. D’Adamo claims that the blood type diet will not only bring about weight loss — but can assist with allergy and infection resistance, and will achieve overall good health.

As we have already told all people are different, but they still can be joined into groups at least according to their race and blood type. A blood type diet is a nutrition plan based around your blood type. There are four of them.

Most of the population has blood type O. Here the prescribed diet is low-carbohydrate, high in proteins (such as meat and fish), and low in dairy products. Those with blood type A should avoid red meat, eat plenty of fish and vegetables, with a low dairy intake. These people are not recommended to have hard exercises. People with blood type B should avoid chicken and bacon, eat plenty of meat and dairy, some fish, and plenty of fruit and vegetables. Those with blood type AB combines the A and B diets.

Of course this theory has both opponents and proponents. The latter are those people who whom rules of this theory really worked and keep working. Moreover they are partially supported by yoga philosophy. Opponents are many scientists and people who just sceptically treat such point of view. They claim that D’Adamo does not present solid scientific evidence that supports his theory. Actually this opinion is supported by a great number of scientists and dietitians. Some of them even doubt that this theory is safe enough to be used in practice. Well, isn’t the number – that huge number – of people who now live happily thanks to blood type diet theory a good practical prove for it? Certainly it is. We just need to go back to that thought from which we started, and realize that even amazing methods not always work for everyone.

      Like Andrea, I have been following my diet for years now, with phenomenal-even unimaginable-health results. Doctors need to stop being afraid of the unknown, which is really why they don’t promote the Blood Type Diet. They don’t teach it in medical school; therefore, the doctor doesn’t feel like it’s important to research. Thanks for the blog!
