Diabetic Diets – Essential Basics

The first and foremost rule for any diabetic diet – you should consult your doctor first. Don’t try to find the best information online – bear in mind that no matter how difficult your condition might be, it should by all means be moderated by your doctor.
But of course, there are some basic tips that can be appropriate for any case:
- drink lots of water;
- eat more whole grain and high fiber starches;
- make sure to eat more fruits and vegetables (raw vegetables should be part of your daily diet);
- eat less fat (e.g. choose low-fat or fat-free salad dressing, mayonnaise, or cream cheese, etc);
- carefully moderate your sugar intake.
