People With Diabetes At Greater Risk For Tooth Loss

Taking care of your teeth is important, and your dentist will be the first to say brushing and flossing can often help prevent tooth loss and cavities, but what will your doctor say? If your doctor has pegged you for high risk for diabetes or you have been diagnosed with diabetes, you could be at greater risk for tooth loss.

A new study examined the rates of tooth loss among Americans that had diabetes and those without diabetes.

The study resulted in people who have diabetes are more than twice as likely to lose all of their teeth as people without diabetes.

There are many studies that have been conducted on this correlation. This particular one showed that tooth loss is one of the most major problems for older people, especially over 60.

People who experience tooth loss will almost always have difficulty chewing foods and even speaking normally. People who lose teeth often feel more self-conscious about their appearance and even shy away from situations
